make money from home

i have read how successful people have had mentors. someone to show them how to be successful. now i have a question. did these mentors help out of the goodness of their hearts or did they charge money ? i have been wanting to be able to work from home building an online business. i have joined many programs, bought many ebooks, books, subscribe to newsletters, trying to gain the knowledge and skill sets you need to be successful. they say that you will get step by step instructions but for someone who is not technically savvy with links, html, adtracking, and the list goes on, a person needs a little more personal hands on help. i came across where this one guy was offering to spend the entire day with you, set everything up for you, show you exactly how he runs his business. he charges for this help a nice four figure bill. if i had the money i would gladly pay his asking price because I know that the r.o.i. would be ten-fold of what i paid him. but just starting out with just enough money to enroll and pay for products and tools it is very difficult. most of the free training or information out there leaves some important details out or like i said need some hands on help. here's hoping there are still some mentors out there that put people ahead of profits.
